Nissan Quest for Sale

Our 2005 Nissan Quest (like the one pictured here) is for sale. It has just over 62000 miles on it and runs great. It also has:Power windows, steering, breaks, trunk lid, and side door. It is a V6. We have used it this year during our furlough and have had zero problems with it. If anyone is interested please drop me a note at jewellmichael@yahoo.com . We would like $8,900 for it but that is negotiable.

An Investment Opportunity!

A brick with your name on it!! Do you remember those pleas from a famous evangelist/preacher years ago to help him build his University? I recently visited another Christian College in Florida where I stepped on a few name of people who had contributed to purchase a piece of the construction project for that facility. I didn't necessarily stop and read each name on every brick and I don't think that the people who gave necessarily had that in mind when they donated funds for such a project (though some might have) but the idea of having ones name on an object is something that attracts attention. We all know that these things won't last and that when our Lord sets up His reign there will be new everything but we do like to see our names written on stuff anyway. We realize that we have played a part in the work. How would you like to see your name on a pew in Brazil? With Dawn and my return just around the corner we will be building pews for Hope Baptist Church! In fact I wi

AWANA Awards Night 2009

AWANA is all about awards. I remember the first time that I heard the word, or acronym, AWANA. I was standing if front of our bookstore talking with Kathy Schick. She said to me, "Mike, what this church need is AWANA!" I replied, "A-WHAT?" I had never heard if AWANA. How many here know what that word means? Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2T2.15 But it wasn't too long after that conversation that we began the program here. That was in 1976 (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Throughout the years we have seen many many boys and girls pass through our program. Hundreds and thousands of Bible verses have been memorized. If they were placed end to end they would be a lot. And each of those verses were a part of an awards system. So many verses earned, in my day, Sections. So many sections earned uniform decorations. If a clubber earned all of their awards they earned a Timothy Award. If they went through the whole program they earned a Meritorious aw

Memories for the Parents of the LOBS Class of 2009

This banquet is about: accolades, recognition of achievements, honors, kudos, laurels, and of course it usually focuses on the Seniors. Thus... the Senior Banquet. However for the next few moments I want to focus on the parents and grand parents. Let me say that I am in no way diminishing the accomplishment of our graduates. It is just that I know that in the next few days they will get a lot of attention. So, if we digress a bit for a few moments there will be no harm done. I saw a commercial recently, in fact I have seen it a number of times maybe you have too. During the commercial there is a brief clip where a tiny duckling is nudged from, or falls from, a tall tree. After what seems like an eternity the little creature lands in a pile of dry leaves. Then you see the little thing taking a tremendous bounce but amazingly it seems totally unharmed by the trauma. What is really amazing is that the clip itself only lasts about 2 seconds but it impacted me and made me think about what h
