Faithful Affliction

Psalm 119:75 I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. When we talk of affliction, trouble or trial we rarely speak of faithfulness in the same sentence. Yet here David says exactly that. "in faithfulness you have afflicted me."  There is an irony here that must hide a secret meaning right? It may not be as difficult to understand as you might think but let's look at it.  David starts this line with an affirmation, "I know that your laws are righteous". These days we have bibles of every color and size. They come in a variety of different translations and with notes and highlights. It wasn't many years ago that most Bibles came in black, like the Model T. If you got married, you might have gotten a white one, but most were black. Life's Trash

I took this picture on our walk yesterday. It's funny how that we get used to seeing stuff like this along our way. I think that if you walk down the street or road near your house, you would be hard pressed to see what has become our "normal". Hard pressed to say the least. Appalled if you did happen upon this scene to say more.  Not that everywhere is like this mind you. Some places are much lovelier and others worse. This is just a "secret" dumping spot for a little of life's trash. Life's trash came to mind as I took this shot. Some time we get accustomed to seeing stuff like this along life's way and we don't give it a second glance. It becomes a part of who we are. It becomes normal. We know that it shouldn't, but it does. Thus, our times in the Perfect Law of Liberty become refreshing and cleansing.
