So, When is Jesus Coming to Rescue Us?

We hear it so often that we have come to expect it. We Christians don't have to worry about the Tribulation because we won't be here! Hallelujah! But is that really what the Bible says?  It's a debated topic you know. The return of Christ is not a doctrine like the atonement where we all agree that Jesus paid the righteous wrath of God, becoming our propitiation. We agree that we are sinners in need of a savior. We know that sin is fatal, with only one cure, the blood of Christ. We believe that the Bible is God's word. We hold it as infallible and true. We believe that Jesus was the Messiah, or God /Man. He was God incarnate (in flesh).  Conservative Christians hold these doctrinal positions without much debate.  When it comes to Christ's return, however, the debate rages. The Real Joy of Child Rearing

2 John 4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.   I have three daughters and have had them for some time now. All three are walking in the Lord. By that I mean that all three are serving the Lord in a local church and are raising their children in the word of God. How that looks at each of their homes may differ in form or certain practices, however, I believe that each of my daughter's would say that their goals are the same as ours were when we raised them. That goal was to have Godly offspring.  How does this joy get spread around? By constantly remembering who we are. We parents can only model Christ if we know him personally. We reflect what we've learned and heard.  I remember one time specifically when my oldest daughter was just two. We were in the backyard doing something when she began to tell me something that had happened to her. The conversation went something like this, "Daddy, I went ov...

Should a Christian be afraid?

  Psalm 27 Is there something that a Christian should be afraid of? If we think about it, we can remember David's example. When he was afraid of enemies, armies or wars, he wanted to be closer to God. He sought to be in the house of the Lord where he found peace and protection. Fear, dread, fright, alarm, panic, terror, mean painful agitation in the presence or anticipation of danger. Fear is the most general term and implies anxiety and usually a loss of courage. David fought fear in several places. We can hear his fear when he cried out: Don't hide your face from me Don't be angry with me  Don't leave me alone  Teach me your way  Don't leave me the will of my enemies.  In these moments of anguish David sought to be closer to God. Hope in Fear

Exodus 19: 16-24; Hebrews 12: 18-29  Is there something that a Christian should be afraid of? If we think about it, we can remember David's example. Going Back to Normal

From Brazil to Michigan people want the same thing, they want to return to Normal. I believe that the point is missed. We don't have a normal. My normal is not yours and vs versa. I might pop into your world and be totally lost and I believe that you popping into my world would be a big shock.  So what did we really want from this year of 2021? I'm guessing here on your behalf so bear with me.  Trump won the election to give us another four years of "breathing room". Covid lost its potency and everyone has returned to work and school. Trump declared the only war announced during his two terms and that war came on two fronts, Antifa and border control. Like his control of terrorism in the Middle East, the war is being won slowly but surely. The work force is strong and the economy is booming.  Was that close to your idea of normal? Spiritual Sive

Years ago an evangelist came to our church in Lake Orion and he was really cool for two reasons, he was a magician and a good preacher. Can an evangelist be a magician? Humm. Anyway, he brought a message one of the nights where he talked about the spiritual sive. What is a spiritual sive, you might ask? Look at what Paul wrote in Philippians 4:8 and you’ll pick up on the idea real quick. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8) Gary Collins, the evangelist, told us that we should use this verse to help us protect our mind from what went into it and our mouth from what came out of it. Have the courage to follow the Call

Minutes after watching a YouTube friend give a talk on real estate investing and taking the big step of buying one's first rental property, I saw the above title on a Christian podcast. Humm. Taking the first step in any endeavor is or can be scary. I can't remember the first step that I took when I was a baby but I can remember how long it took me to take my first missionary step. It took a while. Did I ever tell you that story?  I remember a few years ago telling Janet, a friend of mine, about my struggle. She was fascinated because I told her that I DIDN'T want to go to the mission field. I was sort of like Jonah, but without the fish puke ending. She had never heard of a reluctant missionary. The testimonies she had witnessed all went something like this, "I knew from childhood that God was calling me to Bongo Bongo...."
