Pow Wow!

We had a team meeting this evening. There were ten adults and five children. We were finalizing our plans for our Children's retreat that will begin on Wednesday morning and end on Friday evening. We are excited about the kids who will be participating and look forward to a great time of learning and fun. Brother Barry Webb will be our evangelist and we are praying for some good decisions from our kids as they are challenged from the Word by brother Webb. I will probably be sending daily updates over the next few days. Our theme will be missions and our fun will be Switzerland vs Japan in camp games. Should be fun!

Treats of the Week

This week we had a rare opportunity of spending some time with some of our national pastors at a small resort. We received a gift that allowed us to get away with these two sweet couples. We swam, ate and relaxed we had fellowship. It was a treat. Have you ever told such a great story that you had people guessing the ending? During service today I was recounting a story that happened to me years ago in which I thought that I was going to die. I got near the end of the story and Tais who was right beside me said, "Did you live?" Everybody burst out laughing. The look on her face was so serious and her question was so funny. We did have a good time around the Word in Psalm 107 talking about how we as Christians can react to troubles and trials that come suddenly into our paths. Monday, Alexandre and João will be returning from their week long trip to Curitiba. He called me today saying that 17 people have joined our cause and will help us with the land purchase. One of my supp
Saturday was a bit different at Bible club. We had a good turnout with nearly 40 present. The difference was that Alexandre wasn't a part of the group! He and one of our teens left yesterday for Curitiba to try and raise support for the purchase of land for our new church. He won't be back until later this month. I don't believe that I have mentioned that we have a new addition to our team. Samuel and his wife Joelma are helping us. Samuel is a pastor who has several years of experience and is between ministries. We are very excited to have them as a part of our growing team. Below are some pictures from today's club.

Overdue

As I mentioned in my last update our month of December was weird! Weird and December have never gone together until this one. I still can't get over hot weather and Christmas. Add to that our Kidless Christmas and you have one of the weirdities (a Mike Jewellism) of this past month. We weren't actually kidless. We minister with kids and in December we had a Children's cantata that was rehearsed and presented ten times! Dawn used her sewing skills to make all of the kid's robes and the living nativity clothing. Our van was over packed on several occasions as we carted the cantata to different parts of our world. The simple Gospel, if there is such a thing, was shared in no less than ten different settings. As we approached Christmas day it seemed that all of our missionary friends and families were deserting us too. We even cancelled our annual Baptist Mid-Missions São Paulo station get-together because 90% of our missionaries were elsewhere. Our coworker Alexandre invit

The "Undo" Button

January 1 If you use a computer on a regular basis you will be familiar with the term, "Undo." The "Undo" button is a handy tool when working with photo manipulation, word processing or any other computer process for that matter. If you make a mistake you merely click the "Undo Button" and TA-DA! you go back in time to fix your problems. That little tool has corrected many a grave blunder on my part. In case you hadn't noticed life has no "Undo" button. I would like it to at times. Like when I've just said something that I shouldn't have said or when I've wasted a bunch of time or when I haven't done something that I know that the Lord wanted me to do, I would like to hit the "Undo" button and have a fresh start. Though life has no such button and we cannot count on tomorrow, New Years day is a type of "Undo" option. January's enthusiastic beginning offers a clean slate. James in his principle packed ep
