After five years of hard work Jackson has arrived at graduation day! It was a joint effort these last two years with Annie by his side. And the arrival of Gabriel added another dimension to the seminary schedule. Jackson received a special award at the graduation banquet. He was elected by the student body and professors as Student of the Year! Basking in the memories of these five years one could meditate on the highs and lows that have been integral in moulding three lives for future ministry. But I praise the Lord for shaping His will in these cherished family members lives through each and every event. When Dawn and I dedicated Annie to Christ more than 25 years ago we couldn't have imagined the script that He would place in her hands. And only He knows what the future will hold. When was the last time that you dedicated your life to Christ with the words, “Lord, I'll go wherever you want me to go and do whatever you want me to do.” Those words don't just tumble off the tongue do they. One doesn't say them in jest. But, when uttered to God and followed in faith they are life changing! During my work with the Habiteto team I have gotten to know a young couple who are on fire for Christ. Sandro and his young wife Gislene are just four years old in the Faith but are about to embark on one of the biggest adventures of their young lives. They have expressed the above mentioned dedication to the Savior and will be moving their family to Curitiba to study at our Bible College this coming February. This is a huge step of total dependence and trust in God and His provision. Have you ever had your car stolen? I have and it was not a fun thing to experience. Sunday morning as I unlocked the van I noticed that the key was turning hard. On closer examination I noticed that someone had jammed a screwdriver into the hole trying to jimmy the door open. So much for leaving the car on the streets from now on! And thank you Father for preserving the simple! On Saturday our sixty voice choir met again for our second practice of the cantata The Greatest Gift. The people are doing a fine job and it is neat to see Davi taking the reigns of that large group and doing a good job. Our presentations will be on the third Saturday and Sunday of December. Pray for that evangelistic event. This Thursday the three churches will be together again for a picnic. It is a holiday here in Brazil and we will take advantage of the day for fun and fellowship. We made our annual visit to the Curitiba Bible College's open house this past Thursday through Saturday, taking along nine members from Hope. We spent two rainy days getting to know college as well as one of the city's churrascarias. For one day our people became seminarians, participating in various classes. At the close of that special day Ed's message drove home the reality of a life totally dedicated to Christ. Five of our people went forward to consecrate themselves to that task. It was a huge step in their young Christian lives. We were very excited to see God working and I would invite you to pray with us for His continued direction in their lives. They are: Ronaldo and his wife Adailza, Zelha, Alenildes, and her daughter Joice. Ronaldo and Adailza are planning on beginning their studies this coming February. I'd never changed a flat on a flip-flop until Saturday. Usually when a floppy goes it's time to buy a new one; unless you don't have the money or your in a pinch! At the special missions emphasis ministry opportunity for the kids of Habiteto one of the “Missions Team” kids from Calvary lost the tip of the front yoke of his flip-flop. I asked him what he was going to do about it he began looking for something to fix it. You can always find something on the ground here, usually something that you'd rather not touch. After a bit of looking he looked at me and said, “Can you fix it?” Then it was me looking for that “handy” object. I found a 2” staple and quickly twisted it around the broken yoke-tip and the flop was flippin again! When one is off the net one tends to grab time when one can. As I type now, I am sitting in Ben and Dani's echoing house. I just finished painting the babie's room. Don't panic, there is no baby yet, though I wouldn`t be surprised if one doesn`t come soon (just a guess). Anyway, while contempating life disconnected from the internet I am realizing that one can live a good and productive life with out it. I believe that my spiritual life has improved. My communication with my wife and daughter has improved. And it is refreshing. I am the type of person that can get on the internet and go from one thing (whether, artical, software site, or blog) to the next without much planning or forethought. What was a tool becomes a stumbling block. In fact not long ago I said to Dawn, "Why on earth do I need to know what is going on on the other side of the world?"
