Recipe for a Happy New Year!

Here is the recipe. It is no secret. In fact it has to be close to 3000 years old. Take a look.

1 Praise the LORD!
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
who greatly delights in his commandments!
2 His offspring will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever.
4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice.
6 For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever.
7 He is not afraid of bad news;
his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.
8 His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
9 He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever;
his horn is exalted in honor.
10 The wicked man sees it and is angry;
he gnashes his teeth and melts away;
the desire of the wicked will perish!

Emphasis added. Oh brother is it added. Begin 2013 with Praise to the LORD (remember that is Haleluja) and stuff will begin to go right.

This is NOT to say that ALL of your PROBLEMS will be solved, that you will get well from your terminal illness nor that you will get back together with your lover. What it is saying is that when we praise our Creator like He deserves we begin to see life from a different perspective. We begin to realize that it is NOT about ME. Life is about God. He blesses the righteous in ways that only He can do.

You note the worldly view in the last verse. When he sees God's blessing don't expect him to get excited for you, be happy for you or rejoice with you. It ticks him off! He wants what you have. He doesn't want you to have it.

Worship God this New Year’s day and realize that He deserves it whether 2013 treats you well or horribly. It is not about you or me. In 2013 let’s put God where He belongs. In FIRST place. Give Him the throne that you so love to occupy, the center of your universe. Your heart. You will see that this is a really great recipe for a happy New Year. It has stood the test of time. Eat your heart out Food Network!

And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. Gen 3:21 I have always heard the following explanation of this verse.  Because Adam and Eve had sinned, they died spiritually. The text says that  God made clothes for Adam and his wife from skins.  We see no blood, we don't know what kind of skins, nor can I imagine God making an animal sacrifice. Grazi and Cris Are Getting Baptized!

Graziele / Cris Grazilele (hard to pronounce if you are not a Brazilian) and Cris are getting baptized on Saturday night. Baptism is a big step of faith and these young ladies are ready. Grazi accepted the Lord several years ago when Company C was in it's infancy. She was invited to club by a friend, who has since left, and not long afterwards she opened her heart to the Savior. She is a determined twelve going on twenty year old. When Grazi sets her mind on a task she usually gets it done. Dawn has been teaching her Bible lessons and sewing skills recently and she's noted Grazi's abilities. Grazi plays the recorder in o ur orchestra. Cris is Alexandre's youngest sister. She accepted Christ when her older sister Dani shared her own personal decision a few years back. Cris always has a smile on her face and is a ready helper too. She is quiet but gifted. What are you Worth?  Have you ever thought about what you are worth? In investing circles there is a term used to gauge this exact question, it's called Net Worth. You take all of your assets, like property owned, funds in your bank account, clothes, jewelry, car, etc.. You total all of these things. You then take everything you owe, like mortgage, car loan, and credit card debt, and you subtract these items from the first total. This gives you your net worth. That number represents where you are financially. Most people never stop to think about this number because they don't understand anything about it. They never have two nickels to rub together.
