1 Peter 3:1 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
Not too many years ago this passage was thought to give women's liberation people a conniption fit. Submission was a dirty word that brought slavery to mind. To submit to a man was thought to be a humiliating way of life that would never bring a woman happiness. It was taboo, terrible and treachery to the feminin sex.
Now, we see where the liberation movement has taken us. That liberation from Bible teaching and principles has our world reeling with things like non gender identification. A quick Google search will turn up results like the following,
Sexual orientation is a term used to describe your pattern of emotional, romantic or sexual attraction. Sexual orientation may include attraction to the same gender (homosexuality), a gender different than your own (heterosexuality), both men and women (bisexuality), all genders (pansexual), or neither (asexuality) (from the site, Health link BC).
In a home where the couple wants to please the Lord, the Apostle Peter's advice is simpler and it really works. It is the divine recipe for a good marriage and a happy home. Two believers in Christ who are willing to follow these instructions will, in the future, praise God for his blessings on their union. Try it, you'll like it.
